First - local market knowledge.

Second - negotiating skill.

Third - troubleshooting.

If you don’t think a real estate agent can serve you well in all three, do not hire them. It really is that simple.

The most important thing for you to know about me is -- it’s not about me. It’s all about you, the consumer of real estate. I don’t talk all the time to hear my own voice. I listen, and I ask you questions. So you get what you want, even if at first you don’t really know what you want.

This is my 26th year as a full time Realtor in the DC area. I grew up here too, so I know Washington very well. I usually don’t bother with GPS.

I am affiliated with RE/MAX Distinctive Real Estate, Inc., in Virginia.

I am affiliated with RE/MAX 2000 in Maryland and in the city of DC.

Each office is independently owned and operated.

So what am I doing at an oil well in Midland, Texas?

I am interested in energy issues affecting our country.

In addition to selling real estate, I have my Series 22 and Series 63

securities licenses although I do not use them at the moment. Oil

and gas deals are securitized and sold as investments to accredited investors.

I am also trained in carbon cap and trade by PointCarbon at the Chicago Climate Exchange.

And I Chair the Green Task Force at the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, where I am also serving on the Board of Directors in 2009.

That doesn’t mean I am a better salesman. It means I have interests beyond the here and now. Which is what defines a Washingtonian.

Miscellaneous Andy Norton factoids:

I have my associate broker licenses for Virginia, DC and Maryland.

This means we can cross state lines looking for homes. You don’t need a different Realtor in each jurisdiction.

Continuing Education is actually a hobby of mine. I’ve got so many credentials in real estate when I actually list them, most consumers move on to the next topic.
